I have an evening off for a change, so I have been passing some of the time by browsing around GooNetExchange (a Japanese automotive export site) for awhile.
Found this little fella in my wandering! 180,000 yen (or $2330 CAD)
http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/usedcars/DAIHATSU/MIRA/700903100030160614002/index.html
660cc of basic, no frills little hatchbacky Kei Car....with on-demand 4wd! Not sure the 12000kms hasn’t rolled over once already, but it looks pretty damn clean.
What would YOU choose off GooNet as a useful winter beater Oppo? :D

Excellent choice sir! :D
I’ve always been partial to the Toyota Caldina GT-T if we are talking about AWD JDM wagons! :)

Ooh, nice. Even has a manual, which the Accord wagon didn’t have an option for. And those seats!
I like this one, too. It’s even importable to the US as long as it gets properly federalized (long story short, made in Ohio and shipped to Japan). Another auto-only one, though.

I can’t see why they wouldn’t let it back in, other than maybe RHD if it were built there.
Yeah, I prefer manuals, so the fact you can get it on the Caldina is nice. :)

I’ll take a Chevrolet Cruze!
http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/usedcars/CHEVROLET/CHEVROLET_CRUSE/700031004530160416001/index.html
Yeah, that’s not the Cruze you were probably thinking of, is it?
This 2002 Cruze comes equipped with Suzuki’s 1.3 liter M13A I4 with 87 hp and 87 lb-ft of torque, along with AWD and a 4-speed automatic transmission.
An aftermarket radio with a CD player guarantees I can listen to whatever I have in my collection as I ‘Cruze’ into town on a snowy Hokkaido morning, while the fog lamps help if things get foggy along the coast.
Alloy wheels and red/black two-tone seats guarantee I can do it in style.
Now, to the nitty gritty....101,000km (62,758 miles)...130,000 yen ($1,260.85)...cheap, modern, and capable of handling the winter, especially with a nice set of winter tires...perhaps some Bridgestone Blizzaks?

Same. I’m shocked that Caldina GT-T’s are so cheap. Turbo manual AWD JDM wagons shouldn’t be selling for under $3000 US. Hopefully the populace doesn’t find out about them between now and ~2022.

Ah, very unique choice sir! That Cruze looks a lot like the Suzuki Ignis....related maybe...? (EDIT -
I was right!
)
I kindof dig the rear fascia design with the semi-hidden turn signals and reverse lights in the C-pillar....

Ah, going the large posh wagon route, are we? Excellent choices! I’d take the Camry I think...because more cars need well done two-tone :P

They aren’t that common here in Canada either...mind you, there are almost no JDMs here on the East Coast where I am due to the distance away and shipping costs. There are still very few in BC and out West though AFAIK!

The 3 on Goo-Net are also the only ones I see in Japan. Meanwhile, Stagea 25T’s are plentiful and twice the price.
I live near Japanese Classics, so I see the occasional JDM car in the wild. Had another R32 sighting (#5, 2nd GT-R) today.

There are a few JDMS here where I live - I can think of a Celica GT-Four, a JDM MR2, a JDM late-90's WRX, and a silver R32 and white R33 Skyline off the top of my head...oh and a Daihatsu Atrai kei can a fellow daily drives in Lunenburg......and a JDM first-gen Honda CRV one of the mail carriers uses, and a JDM Toyota Hilux Surf that another mail carrier uses....
...guess there are more than I thought, but still not many in the grand scheme of things!

Aside from the R32s, i’ve seen one two-tone green/grey S13 Silvia and one Laurel. I may have seen some RHD versions of cars that were sold here, but I only really notice the ones that weren’t. A Caldina would definitely stand out.
Oddly, none of the R32s I’ve seen 4-doors.
